Pro Income Tax Liberal Beverly Hollingworth of Hampton Runs for New Hampshire State Senate District 24 Seacoast
Pro Income Tax and Liberal Government Spender Beverly Hollingworth is Again Running for Office - State Senate for District 24 on the New Hampshire Seacoast
Liberal Democrat Beverly Hollingworth is running against incumbent State Senator Nancy Stiles for the New Hampshire District 24 State Senate seat. Hollingworth has always been a liberal Democrat, and actually ran unsuccessfully for Governor in 2002 on a pro-statewide income tax platform. While critical of the current Republican legislature, Hollingworth has yet to offer any ideas or plans in her campaign that justify elected her instead of Sen. Stiles, who by all accounts, has done a tremendous job representing the Seacoast over the last two years in the State Senate. Even Hollingworth's friend, Hampton Selectman Richard Nichols, told Seacoast Online and the Portsmouth Herald that he is supporting Nancy Stiles this election because she has been so responsive and helpful to the town of Hampton. The fact is, Hollingworth has run for "something" in 16 of the last 17 elections. She claims "experience" as her greatest asset - but the fact is that just because a candidate runs for office all the time does not mean they would be an asset to the state or their district. She lost her bid for Executive Council in 2010 to Chris Sununu, and was so soundly rejected by the voters in that election that she even lost her home town of Hampton to Sununu, who is from Newfields. In 2002, she could not even win her own party's nomination for governor. With the state of the economy, both nationally and here in New Hampshire, the last thing the citizens of this state need is a State Senator who favors more taxing and more spending. What we need are people in office who believe in less government, not more. We need people with creative new ideas. We need fresh blood. We do not need old time career politicians with favors to pay off. If anyone out there knows of any helpful concrete proposals that Hollingworth would actually promote as a state senator if elected, it would be most helpful. The "experience" she touts in all of her campaigns is a career of promoting taxing and spending in Concord. She even favors increasing tolls on our roads. We need state senators who want to be responsive to the towns in their District, and to undertake public service to help their localities. We do not need career politicians who need to run for something every election for personal reasons.
