Crash on I-95 Leads to DWI Charge for Maine Man

NHSP arrested Nicholas Blangiardi of Eliot, ME, after crash near the Seabrook rest area last night.

SEABROOK, NH — A Maine man was arrested last night for drunk driving after allegedly crashing his Audi A4 on I-95, according to New Hampshire State Police. Nicholas Blangiardi, 27, of Eliot, ME, was arrested on Nov. 30, 2016, for driving while intoxicated.

According to state police, at just before midnight last night, troopers were sent to a motor vehicle accident report on the northbound side of I-95 near the entrance of the Seabrook rest area. When they arrived, they found a 2006 Audi A4, being driven by Blangiardi, reportedly left the roadway, jumped the curb, and drove head-on into a tree.

“The entrance ramp to the Seabrook Rest Area was shut down for approximately one hour while the crash was investigated and the vehicle was removed from the scene,” according to Lt. Christopher Vetter of the NHSP. “The New Hampshire State Police were assisted at the scene by members of the Seabrook Police Department and the Seabrook Fire and Rescue.”

The preliminary investigation hasn’t revealed why the vehicle left the road but Blangiardi was placed under arrest on a driving while intoxicated charge at the scene.

Blangiardi was processed and released, and is due in court on Dec. 8.
