Crimeline Names Maloney Scholarship Winner
The Crimeline's $1,000 scholarship is being awarded this year in honor of the slain Greenland police chief.
senior Kimberly Newcomb has been named the recipient of this year’s Crimeline for the Hamptons, Inc., scholarship.
Newcomb's essay was judged as the best of the essays received by the Crimeline Board of Directors last month, according to the Crimeline. Newcomb received $1,000 for her writing.
The Crimeline funds an annual scholarship to one local high school student who wishes to pursue a career in law enforcement or criminal justice, and to children of police officers from the , , Hampton Falls, or Seabrook police departments.

This year's scholarship has special significance as well, as the Crimeline has this year's award will be issued in memorium of late , who was while serving a drug warrant on April 12.
The scholarship announcement came during the annual Crimeline fundraiser, a 10-day Poker Room tournament that .

A special event — featuring food and appetizers provided by Al’s Seafood, 401
Tavern, The Purple Urchin, Bella Rosa Pizza, and Want Waffles — was held on May 1 in the middle of the fundraiser, and Crimeline officials described that event as successful.
“People had fun and we raised money for a good cause that benefits everyone who lives in our area,” said Karin Breen, chairwoman of the Crimeline Board of Directors. “We couldn’t have been this successful without the great work of the team at The Poker Room or without the tremendous outpouring of generosity form the participating restaurants."
Many residents also lent a hand, and Crimeline officials specifically said they wanted to thank Patti and Ed Grogan and Dawn and George Gentuso for their volunteerism.
“We’re grateful for what they all did to help us raise money for our rewards,
scholarships, and police-related donations,” Breen said. “This money will go a long way in helping our community have more tools to fight crime,” she said.
Since its inception in 1994, the Crimeline’s funds are used to give rewards for anonymous tips that lead to arrests and indictments for crimes in North Hampton, Hampton, Hampton Falls, and Seabrook.
Knowledge provided about any crime at any location, if presented to Crimeline for the Hamptons, Inc., may be eligible for a reward.
Tips can be left anonymously at 929-1222, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, callers are asked to create an identifying code by which they will be notified if a reward is available.
