Dover Teen Charged with DUI After Crashing Into Hampton Man

New Hampshire State Police arrest Jacob Bailey after pedestrian accident on Ashworth Avenue.

A local man was arrested earlier this morning after what state troopers are calling ”a serious motor vehicle crash” on Ashworth Avenue.

Jacob Bailey, 18, of Hampton, was arrested on July 21, 2015, and charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Troopers along with Hampton Police were called to the accident between K Street and L Street at around 12:15 a.m. for a pedestrian struck by a Nissan Sentra.

The injuries to the pedestrian, a 28-year-old Hampton man, appeared to be life threatening, according to Sgt. Steven Wheeler of the NHSP, and he was later transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital and remains in life threatening condition.

Police requested the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit and they determined that the Nissan, driving south in the left hand lane, struck the pedestrian. State police later arrested Bailey and charged him with DUI although, Wheeler noted, “all aspects of the crash still remain under investigation. ”

Agencies assisting at the scene include NH State Police Troop A, Hampton Police, and Hampton Fire & Rescue Department.
