East Coast Braces For September Nor'easter With Flooding, Beach Erosion Threats

HAMPTON, NH — AccuWeather is warning that a September nor'easter could bring coastal flooding and beach erosion to parts of the East Coast, according to its forecast.

The weather service framed the system as a significant September storm and said coastal impacts are the main concern.

Based on that material, AccuWeather reported the storm could cause coastal flooding and beach erosion, but the available text did not specify which communities face the highest risk or when the strongest effects are expected.

For residents in shoreline areas, those risks often affect travel, beaches, and low-lying property.

The storm is expected to hit New Hampshire on Friday, bringing strong winds, rain, and power outages through Sunday.

"The rain could extend far enough north to ease the ongoing drought in Maine," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Chad Merrill said. "Regardless of how close to the coast the storm tracks, it has the potential to become strong enough to bring soaking rain and gusty winds in coastal areas, while prolonged rough surf may cause well above-normal tides and beach erosion."
