Election Reform: Support Senate Bill 3

Along with many, I am pleased that Senate Bill 3 has passed the Senate and now moves to the House. I applaud Senator Regina Birdsell and the Republican senate majority for putting forward great legislation that will help restore integrity to the election process.

I encourage our representatives in the House to support Senate Bill 3, a bill designed to bring back integrity and better clarify our voting process here in NH.

My friends across the aisle would have you believe that we are ‘disenfranchising’ voters by requiring them to prove that they are NH residents. This is not the case. Everyone is encouraged to vote in our elections. Drawing from the famous words of Ronald Regan, we are merely creating a “Trust but Verify” stance with any and all voters who come to our polls on Election Day: we will make sure you live here after the polls close or face the consequences. My friends across the aisle point to ‘so few prosecutions’ of voter laws here in NH over the past several years as a sign that voter fraud could not possibly exist. Couldn’t it be that the Democrat appointed AG, who just left office, refused to even investigate any such cases? Naw…

At the end of the day just one illegal vote takes away or even cancels that of a lawful and legal one. Do you want your vote cancelled? I think that is completely unjust and unfair and Senate Bill 3 will make sure that this does not happen in NH.
