Five Things: HFD Takes Water Rescue Training

The department conducted rescue swimmer training Wednesday, while there are multiple WHS teams playing and two notable meetings today.

Good morning, Hampton and North Hampton. Here are five things you need to know for Thursday, Sept. 27:

 

1. Several Area Agencies Hit the Water for Training: The Hampton Fire Department, as well as many other public safety agencies, conducted an outdoor water rescue swimmer training session Wednesday.

Deputy Fire Chief Jamie Ayotte said the participants were "getting a great education" with Joe Mokry, a "great" instructor with Ocean Rescue Systems. Ayotte also said they received "some significant help from Cinnamon Rainbows" to get Wednesday's class off the ground.

2. Today’s Winnacunnet High School Sports Matchups: Freshman boys' and girls' soccer each play at Concord at 4 p.m., while freshman football plays Dover at home at 5 p.m.

3. What Else Is Happening Today? The Hampton IT Committee will meet at 6 p.m. in Town Manager's Conference Room at Town Hall, and the Hampton Zoning Board will meet at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall Selectmen's Meeting Room.

4. This Day in History: On this day in 1779, the Continental Congress appointed John Adams to travel to France as minister plenipotentiary in charge of negotiating treaties of peace and commerce with Great Britain during the Revolutionary War.

5. Today's Forecast: Today should be sunny, with a high near 64 degrees.
