Graduating Senior Wins Scholarship from Honey Dew

Today's Photo of the Day is of a special honor for one Winnacunnet student.

Amy Strong (pictured on the right in the above photo), a graduating senior from , was awarded a $250 college scholarship by Honey Dew Donuts Founder Richard Bowen (left), at a ceremony held at the Sheraton Hotel in Needham, Mass., on Saturday morning of June 2. 

Strong, a resident of Hampton, will be attending Rhode Island College in the fall.

Each year Honey Dew Donuts awards more than $25,000 in scholarship money to graduating high school seniors from Honey Dew Donuts franchise communities throughout New England, according to the company.

To be eligible, students had to demonstrate academic excellence by maintaining a grade point average of B- or better, be accepted into a four-year accredited college or university, and participate in community service activities, according to the company.
