HAMPTON, NH — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a person of interest as well as security footage after a vehicle theft and a number of thefts from vehicles in town on Friday.

Between midnight and 4 a.m., items were stolen from unlocked vehicles in the North Shore area of town — specifically, Mace Road, Milbern Avenue, Vanderpool Drive, Blake Lane, Esker Road, Emerald Avenue, and other areas of the community, according to Deputy Chief Alex Reno of the Hampton Police Department. A stolen vehicle was also reported in the same area.

“The Hampton Police Department is seeking the public’s help in reviewing home security video footage, even if their vehicle was not entered,” he said. “Additionally, we are asking people to check their vehicles for evidence of theft and to also ensure that all of the license plates are affixed to their vehicles. We are investigating any connections between the vehicle theft and the thefts from the unlocked vehicles.”

Reno said the investigation of the vehicle theft and thefts from vehicles is ongoing and police are looking at one or more suspects who may also have been in possession of a weapon at the time of the thefts.

“We are encouraging residents to not engage any suspects that they believe to be breaking into their vehicles,” he said. “We urge any suspicious behavior to be immediately called into the police department and allow our officers to respond and investigate the activity.”
