Hampton Firefighter Completes MS in Health Emergency Management
Firefighter Ryan Pitts worked to complete this 42 credit program designed for first responders and healthcare professionals alike.

From Hampton Fire/Rescue: Hampton Fire/Rescue is proud to announce that Firefighter/AEMT Ryan Pitts has completed all course work necessary to be awarded a Master’s of Science in Health Emergency Management from Anna Maria College. Firefighter Pitts worked to complete this 42 credit program designed for first responders and healthcare professionals alike. The program is designed to prepare students for logistical considerations in mass gatherings, building sustainable coalitions, identifying public health hazards and planning for response.
As part of the capstone project, Mr. Pitts developed an Incident Action Plan and Hazard Vulnerability Analysis based on the Hampton Seafood Festival. He presented this research to his class and professors for a final grade. Ryan completed this degree program with a Grade Point Average of 4.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Ryan Pitts has been a member of Hampton Fire/Rescue since December of 2015. He proudly served four years as an active duty member of the United States Navy and is currently serving in the United States Navy Reserve.
