Hampton Man Arrested On Child Rape Charges

Angelo Hernandez was arrested after an investigation into a report of aggravated felonious sexual assault against a child under 13.

HAMPTON, NH — A local man was arrested last week on child rape charges in Seabrook, according to police. Angelo Hernandez, 54, of Hampton, was arrested on Aug. 18, 2017, on two felony counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault. According to Deputy Chief David Hobbs of the Hampton Police Department, officers began an investigation into a report that Hernandez allegedly sexually assaulted a minor on Aug. 16.

“Investigators were able to identify the suspect in the report as Angelo Hernandez,” Hobbs alleged. “Through victim and witness reports, the Criminal Investigation Division determined that Hernandez did knowingly engage in sexual penetration of a child under the age of 13 as well as knowingly engage in a pattern of sexual abuse with a victim under 13 years of age.” (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Hampton-North Hampton NH Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

Investigators took out warrants against Hernandez and he was picked up on Lafayette Road in Seabrook with the assistance of police in that community, Hobbs noted. He was held on $100,000 bail and arraigned yesterday.
