Hampton, North Hampton Voters Head to the Polls Tuesday

Both Hampton and North Hampton host town elections on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. Here are the details:
Hampton
The Hampton town election will be held from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Winnacunnet High School dining hall.

In Hampton, voters have competitive races for Board of Selectmen, Cemetery Trustee, Zoning Board, and school board, and a number of warrant articles.
Voters will decide whether or not to spend $24.95 million reconstructing Hampton Academy. They also get to decide on whether or not they want a $20,184,320 school operating budget or a default budget of $20,256,680. Voters will also decide whether to accept a $23,810,213 budget or a default budget of $23,552,045 for the Winnacunnet Cooperative School District.

Warrant articles to be considered include a $26,599,431 town operating budget (with a default budget of $26,528,092), $2 million for upgrades to the waste water treatment facility, as well as many other proposals.
Voters in Hampton also have a special election for state representative between Philip W. Bean, an independent candidate, Michael Edgar, the Democrat, or Kenneth Sheffert, a Republican.

North Hampton
Voters go to the polls from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the North Hampton School, 201 Atlantic Avenue in North Hampton.
Voters have competitive races for two one-year seats on the Budget Committee, a number of zoning amendments, and two proposals for a municipal safety complex for police and fire: One costs $6.5 million; another costs $4.3 million. Voters will also decide whether to vote for a $6,688,166 town operating budget or a default budget of $6,550,036.
Also for North Hampton voters, they will also decide whether to accept a $23,810,213 budget or a default budget of $23,552,045 for the Winnacunnet Cooperative School District. The will also choose a $8,512,725 school operating budget or a default school budget of $8,550,367. That sample ballot can be found here.
