Hampton Resident Wins Shaws Scholarship
The money was awarded for the student's "outstanding" scholastic achievements and potential to succeed at Northeastern in the fall.
Ryan Doherty, a Hampton resident who graduated from earlier this month, has been selected as a recipient of a $1,000 scholarship.
Doherty, the son of Linda Billings and Jim Doherty, will attend Northeastern University in Boston to study chemical engineering.
Shaw’s Supermarkets, which has a location in North Hampton, and Star Markets have been offering scholarships to "outstanding students" for over 40 years, according to their parent company.

The company said recipients of the scholarships demonstrate high scholastic achievements, high standards of job performance and a potential to succeed in college.
