Hampton Woman Arrested on Drug Charges in Newmarket
Police: A traffic stop on Wadleigh Falls Road leads to a vehicle impound and fentanyl, marijuana charges against Katelyn Ryan.

NEWMARKET, NH — A local woman who was stopped during an early morning traffic stop this weekend was arrested on drug warrants today, according to police. Katelyn Ryan, 24, of Winnacunnet Road in Hampton, was arrested on Feb. 27, 2017, for possession of controlled drugs-marijuana, in motor vehicle, and possession of narcotic drugs-fentanyl.

According to a police post on Facebook, at around 5:15 a.m. on Feb. 25, an officer stopped a vehicle on Wadleigh Falls Road for several motor vehicle infractions. After stopping the vehicle and speaking with the driver – Ryan – the officer allegedly saw drug paraphernalia “commonly associated with the use of heroin and/or fentany’ in “plain view,” the posted noted.

“The vehicle was impounded and a search warrant was sought through the 10th Circuit Brentwood Division Court,” according to police. “A quantity of marijuana and fentanyl along with several items of drug paraphernalia was seized during the execution of the search warrant.”
The department applied for a warrant and later, arrested Ryan. She was released on personal recognizance bail and is due in court on April 27.

Ryan, according to reports online, has had a few run-ins with law enforcement during the past few years.
In December 2012, while living in North Hampton, she was arrested by New Hampshire State Police on Route 1 in Hampton on a minor in possession of alcohol charge, according to Seacoastonline.com. In late January 2016, she was a driver in an investigated hit-and-run incident in Portsmouth. In March 2016, according to North Hampton Police, she was arrested on unsworn falsification and false report to law enforcement warrants.
