Images of Witches in Popular Culture

Has society's ideas of the "witch" changed over the centuries? The Tuck Museum invites you to find out Friday, June 20 at 7PM.

Images of Witches in Popular Culture presents the conception of what a witch looked like, mirrored in the works of various print artists from late medieval times to the present period. In the 20th century, film and television take over as the primary reflective media. Has the idea of the "witch" changed over time? Come find out!

There will also be a reading from "The Mark of Goody Cole" a new biography of the "Witch of Hampton" followed by a Q&A with the author, Cheryl Lassiter. The legend of Goody Cole still fascinates people today and the author has done a detailed search of all the current information available and come up with a fascinating look at one of Hampton's most infamous women.

The museum will be serving witches' brew and a modern-day version of witch cake. All this takes place in the historic Leavitt Barn on the museum grounds, 40 Park Avenue, Hampton. For more information call 929-0781.
