Fashion Can! Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive

Portsmouth, NH—Fashion can help the community. LIT Boutique located in downtown Portsmouth plans to put the giving back into the Thanksgiving holiday season with a canned food drive the week of November 16-25. The “We Say Thanks to your Giving” program rewards each customer with a pair of fashionable earrings for a donation of two canned goods. The canned good food drive will benefit the New Hampshire Food Bank there is no purchase necessary.

As the Thanksgiving season approaches, The New Hampshire Food Bank seeks support from the Seacoast New Hampshire community members to supply food for thousands of hungry children, families and seniors throughout our Seacoast community that will need meals over the next three months. November is canned vegetable month.

The New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire, opened its doors on World Food Day in 1984 and in that year distributed 250,000 pounds of food to feed the hungry throughout the state. As the only food bank in the state, the New Hampshire Food Bank is a vital distributor and supplier to the hunger relief agencies that serve meals and provide groceries to people experiencing the negative impacts of not having enough to eat. On average these agencies receive 50% of their food from the NH Food Bank. In 2014, the NH Food Bank distributed over 11 million pounds of non-perishable food items, fresh produce, and meats to more than 400 non-profit food agencies in all corners of NH.
