Hampton Beach photographer Ellen Gunst will be presenting her work at the on Tuesday, April 24, at 6:30 p.m. in the Lane Room.

Ellen began her love affair with the camera at age 11, photographing the people and streets of her native New York City. Working with both 35mm and medium-format film cameras and producing her own prints in a traditional darkroom, Ellen has continued her lifelong study of light, "the boldness and subtlety of the forms it has and reveals."

Ellen's prints now on display at the Lane Library Gallery include images from her portfolios "Liberty", "Battery Park", and "A Stones' Throw", featuring a particularly intriguing set of created subjects where "tableaux are arranged as places remembered, stones are carefully selected and assembled together [and] left behind as an echo on the landscape, the odyssey of the traveler."

Equally comfortable in the darkroom as behind the camera, Ellen will talk about why she still prefers to work with film and the unique properties of the silver halide fiber print as an artistic medium.  Her talk is open to the public, suitable for all ages, and free of charge.  Light refreshments will be provided.

For more information, contact Darrell Eifert at the Lane Memorial Library, (603) 926-3368.  The library is located at 2 Academy Ave., Hampton.
