Local Students Moving On to DI State Championships

Students will compete at Winnacunnet on March 31.

A team of students from North Hampton School and Hampton Falls' Lincoln Ackerman School qualified for the Destination ImagiNation State Finals with an impressive showing over the weekend in Kingston.

The teams were two of several sent by the local schools — including six total Lincoln Ackerman School teams — for the regional competition, held on Saturday, March 17. students also competed but didn't qualify for the finals, which will be held on Saturday, March 31, at Winnacunnet High School starting at 7:30 a.m.

Creative problem solving, collaboration and communication skills of over 1,200 New Hampshire students were put to the test during the 172-team competition. Destination ImagiNation is the world’s largest creative problem solving organization for student teams from kindergarten through college, according to a website for the program.

Over 100,000 students in over 30 countries competed in judged challenges that incorporate core school subjects with a focus that is technical, scientific, arts-based, improvisational, structural or social-learning, according to the website.

The top finishing teams from the March 31 state finals will advance to the Destination ImagiNation Global Finals to compete with teams from all 50 states and with teams from around the globe.
