Locals to Take a Gamble on Students' Futures

Residents will put their money on the line for 10 days, and win or lose it'll aid area high school students.

The Friends of Winnacunnet Foundation will hold a 10-day fundraiser at the Poker Room, with proceeds to be used to award grants to enhance and inspire innovative programs and education at Winnacunnet High School.

The fundraiser at the Poker Room, located at 1 Lafayette Road, begins Friday, April 12, and runs through April 21. A special event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, featuring food provided through the generosity of area restaurants. For those who do not have experience playing games of chance, there will be a table for people to learn how to play.

Phil Maltais, president of the foundation said “the Poker Room fundraiser is a great opportunity for people in the community to come together and have some fun while at the same time impacting the education of our students.”
