Low Cost, Subsidized Rabies & MicroChip Clinics Announced
The New Hampshire SPCA is holding the first of six low cost, subsidized rabies/microchip clinics of 2014 this Sunday, March 16th, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The cost is $15.00 for a 1-year vaccination and $25.00 for a 3-year vaccinations (proof of a previous vaccine is required for a 3 year vaccine), Micro-chipping of dogs and cats will be available at a cost of $45.00 per animal and will include the registration of the chip with HomeAgain, a leading brand for pet recovery micro-chipping.

All the clinics run from 10:00 am to 1:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary but your pets must be on a leash or in a carrier.
Rabies is a fatal disease that is communicable to humans. Transmitted through the saliva of an infected animal, bite wounds are the most common method of infection, but any contact with saliva to an open wound or sore can cause infection. Fox, raccoons, and skunks are the most common mammals to catch, carry and spread the rabies virus.
Microchipping your pet is the best way to ensure that if he or she is ever lost, runs away or is stolen that they will be returned to you. Microchips are about the size of a grain of rice and are injected into the skin at the back of the neck. The painless procedure makes it possible to track your pet no matter where they may turn up. A shelter, Veterinarian’s office or Animal Control Officer can scan the pet for a chip and determine its rightful owner.
In addition to a rabies vaccine the NHSPCA recommends that your pet receive the following veterinary care for its general well being:
DOGS: Annual physical exam, Distemper and Parvo Virus Vaccination, Lyme Disease Vaccination, Heartworm testing and monthly preventative medication, regular flea and tick prevention.
CATS: Annual physical exam, Feline Distemper Vaccination, Feline Leukemia Vaccination, regular flea and tick prevention.
RABBITS: Annual physical exam, discuss rabies risk with your Veterinarian if your rabbit lives outdoors.
The New Hampshire SPCA is a community resource center that provides animal adoption, education, investigation and sheltering services in a professional and compassionate way. The Adoption Center is open from 11 am – 4pm on Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11 am – 7pm on Tuesday and Thursday, and closed on Wednesday.
