“(The trooper) detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from within the interior of the vehicle,” according to Trooper Alexander Davis of the NHSP. “Upon questioning, Mr. Leone admitted to being in possession of a quantity of marijuana, which he produced for (the trooper). Mr. Leone was taken into custody, and a tow truck was called to remove his vehicle from the highway.”
During an inventory search, the trooper allegedly observed more marijuana “in plain view in a duffle bag” in the trunk of the vehicle, according to the report. The inventory was halted and a warrant requested. After the search warrant was granted, the trooper allegedly found more than 7 lbs. of marijuana with a street value of about $21,000, packaging materials, and $31,262 worth of cash.
