During the investigation, a shift sergeant noted that the previous evening, during the early morning hours, there was a man loitering in the area near the businesses. The man was allegedly Follansbee, according to a press statement.

The criminal investigations unit continued to work the case and after reviewing evidence from the scene, developed probably cause that Follansbee was allegedly involved in the incident. Follansbee was already out on bail for an April 2, offense, according to Reno, where he was arrested for domestic violence assault, simple assault on a police officer, and reckless. An arrest warrant was then issued against him, according to Reno.
