“As officers approached Mr. Yanes, he began firing the fireworks off in different directions while holding a Roman Candle in his hands,” according to Deputy Chief David Hobbs of the Hampton Police Department. “The beach area was extremely busy at this time and at one point, Mr. Yanes began pointing the fireworks towards the boardwalk area.”

Yanes was told to stop but “took off running” and was arrested after officers chased him down, according to Hobbs. One of the officers was reportedly struck by one of the Roman Candle balls but didn’t sustain any injuries.

Yanes was processed and released on personal recognizance bail. He’s due in Seabrook District Court on Aug. 23.

Last year, according to the Revere Journal, Yanes was arrested for drug dealing, leaving the scene of an accident, and other charges.
