Middle Schooler Takes Home Wrestling Gold

Several students placed well at the state regional tourney.

Hampton Academy student Ryan Boyle took home first place in his weight class and many other students took home high honors during the recent N.H. Middle School Regional Wrestling tournament in Concord.

According to coach Alex Reno, 18 teams competed in the tournament, and the top six wrestlers from each weight class will advance to the "Meet of Champions" state championship in Litchfield on Sunday.

Hampton Academy placed 6th in overall team points at the regionals, and the following is a list of the Hampton students who placed in the Top 6 in their respective weight classes:

  • 6th Place — Brody Durant
  • 5th Place — Anthony Rita and Tommy Miller
  • 4th Place — Jared McCann
  • 3rd Place — John Ferrelli, Mike Ellis, Dustin McCann, and Ollie Willcox
  • 2nd Place — Matt Cooney and Brian Coffen
  • 1st Place — Ryan Boyle

Reno said there was also a "great effort put forth" during regionals by Hampton students Cooper Pennfield, Cole Albert, Alex Larson, Connor Newton, Cole Marzinzik and Keegan Gidley.
