N. Hampton School Sees Test Scores Improve
Fourth and eighth graders at North Hampton School again performed above the state science average, while two Hampton schools saw a drop-off.

The results from the most recent round of New England Common Assessment Program science testing brought mixed emotions from local schools.
This week, the state released scores from the May 2011 science NECAPs, a standardized test administered annually to New Hampshire fourth, eighth and eleventh grade students.
students again performed significantly above the state average, and the school also saw a significant growth in the percentage of students testing in the "proficient with distinction" ("Level 4") and "proficient" ("Level 3") categories.

, which includes students from Hampton, North Hampton and several other communities, also saw growth in those categories, although the school is still behind the state average.
Hampton elementary and middle school students, however, saw a decline in their science scores this year. While there is room for improvement, those students -- 's fourth graders and 's eighth graders -- did still score at or above the state average.
