New Community Group Focused on Helping WHS

A group of staff and parents have formed an organization focused on bringing community members together to improve Winnacunnet High School.

A group of community members have taken it upon themselves to establish a new organization in the hopes of fostering dialogue and generating ideas about how to improve education at Winnacunnet High School.

The group, known as the Winnacunnet Community Support Organization, was created by WHS math teacher Mike Myers in the wake of several recent issues that have stirred strong public reactions, including the Winnacunnet School Board's desire to implement next year and the resignation of the school's .

The organization's Facebook page invites any parents, students, former students, community members and faculty to take part in the discussions and meetings, including the session that begins at 6:30 p.m. in WHS' Hawley Library, in order to find "constructive ways" to improve Winnacunnet.

"Concerned Citizens of the Seacoast, I urge you to get informed about the current state of affairs at Winnacunnet High School," reads the Facebook page. "Please seek out school board members, faculty, students, parents, etc [sic] to get a broad perspective of what is happening... This is too big for us to ignore. We must get more people involved, reagrdless of which way you feel about the issue."
