North Hampton Fire And Rescue Responds After Vehicle Fire Spreads To Residence

NORTH HAMPTON, NH — North Hampton Fire & Rescue and mutual aid departments responded early Sunday after a vehicle fire spread to a home on Atlantic Avenue, according to information released by the department.

North Hampton Fire & Rescue was called at 4:12 a.m. to 151 Atlantic Avenue for a report of a vehicle fire near a residence. While crews were en route, they were updated that the fire had spread to the residence and that there was possibly a resident still inside.

North Hampton Fire & Rescue Engine 2 arrived a short time later and found a truck fully involved in fire that was extending into the home. Engine 2 requested a first-alarm assignment and began what the department described as an aggressive offensive attack on the fire while also assisting a resident in evacuating the home. The resident was determined to be uninjured.

The department reported that the fire was brought under control in a timely manner through the rapid actions of responding personnel, which significantly limited damage to the nearby home. After the fire was out, the resident was able to remain in the home.

Firefighters from Hampton, Rye, Portsmouth, and Greenland provided mutual aid at the scene. Firefighters from Seabrook and Hampton Falls covered stations, and North Hampton Police also assisted at the scene.

The department said the incident showed the role of the Seacoast mutual aid system in a fast-moving emergency, with neighboring departments providing immediate support.

"This was a fast-moving and dangerous situation that required immediate action from our crews," Fire Chief Jake MacGlashing said. "I’m incredibly proud of the aggressive and coordinated efforts by our personnel and our mutual aid partners. Their quick response and teamwork made a direct difference in protecting life and minimizing damage to the home."

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No additional information about the investigation was released in the department's statement.
