Police Seeking Public's Help in Finding Armed Fugitive

A suspect in a recent armed Home Depot robbery is still allegedly on the run.

The North Hampton Police Department is turning to the public for leads in a case involving a Hampton man who threatened to stab a Home Depot employee after he was caught stealing wire last week.

Steven K. Spolidoro, 36, of Hampton, is wanted on one count of felony armed robbery, according to Detective Steven Janvrin. Spolidoro allegedly robbed Home Depot, located at 35 Lafayette Road, around 8 a.m. on Nov. 26, and has since eluded multiple police agencies.

Janvrin said Spolidoro has multiple warrants out for his arrest in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, where he's wanted for "similar crimes" in Somerville. While he said he believes Spolidoro will soon be apprehended, Janvrin still said the public can help expedite a case that so far has received no tips from the community.

"I think it’s a matter of time before he does something else and he has police contact," said Janvrin, who added that Spolidoro has been arrested in Hampton in the past. "If the public sees him, we'd like to have a call."

Home Depot employees said Spolidoro appeared "suspicious" when the suspect entered the store on Nov. 26, and said Spolidoro eventually "got rid of his carriage" and put "one or two spools of wire" — valued at total of $100 to $120 — under his jacket before attempting to take the items from the store, according to Janvrin.

Janvrin said an employee told the suspect he'd call the police if Spolidoro left with the wire, at which point Spolidoro allegedly pulled out a "3-to-5-inch knife" and "threatened to stab the employee" if the employee tried to stop him.

Spolidoro was identified because the employee was able to record the suspect's vehicle's license plate, said police. The vehicle is registered to Spolidoro's mother, who lives in Hampton, although Janvrin said Spolidoro no longer has access to it and isn't driving it around town.

Spolidoro is known to frequent the Massachusetts towns of Everett, Malden, Somerville and Woburn, according to Janvrin.
