Power Restored in North Hampton After Crash

Vehicle strikes a utility pole on Post Road, cuts power to residents.

A vehicle crashed into a utility pole on Post Road around 10:30 p.m. last night knocking out power to a number of homes in North Hampton for about three hours, according to alerts last night.

The accident occurred in the area of 161 Post Road on Feb. 16, 2015, and caused a pole “to topple and the breakers and other equipment on the pole to fail to maintain the circuit,” according to Police Chief Brian Page, who also serves as the director of Public Safety for the town of North Hampton.

PSNH/Eversource NH was notified about the accident and police began to create a plan to go door-to-door to let people know there was an emergency warming center set up in case they needed it, due to the exceedingly cold temperatures last night.

Police scrapped the plan, however, after the utility company informed them around midnight that power would be restored soon.

Power was restored around 1 a.m. but the road was closed until around 6 a.m., according to posts on Twitter.
