Seacoast 9s Finish Second at Regionals

The local team lost 3-2 to Berwick, Maine on Thursday night.

The Seacoast Cal Ripken 9s lost 3-2 to Berwick, Maine on Thursday night, ending their hopes of winning the Cal Ripken New England Regional Tournament.

Seacoast, an all-star team of local 9-year-old boys, finished second in the tournament, which was held in Hebron Connecticut. Berwick had beaten Seacoast 6-0 two nights earlier.

Joe Allen started for Seacoast and pitched well early. The team had a one run lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning, but Berwick hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead.

Seacoast battled back in the top of the sixth, bringing in Jake Elbeery off an Allen single, but they were unable to plate another run after that.
