Sheffert: Vote for Me for Hampton State Rep.

Former state representative would like to return.

By Ken Sheffert

My name is Ken Sheffert and I am running for election to the New Hampshire House of Representatives. I served our town in the House from 2011 to 2013. I am also a former Conservation Commission member in Hampton.

Local issues are what I am all about. There continues to be a lot of rhetoric ‘flying’ around in Concord these days; a lot of the same ‘ol - same ‘ol. Rest-assured, I stand apart from all that and remain focused on issues that really matter to you, LOCALLY. And I get results. In my last term, I was successful with the Tree Warden Bill that I proposed and passed which helps to save trees while maintaining our fragile power grid. I remain today very consciously aware and concerned with environmental issues and this bill incorporated two important issues for the benefit of all.

I am very concerned with educational funding and how it may affect your son or daughter in terms of receiving a quality education here in Hampton. I am concerned about your lack of local control with Common Core. Parents and teachers making local education decisions, not bureaucrats, are what our children deserve. Our children do not deserve to fall victim to ‘party-politicking’ and other shenanigans that take place regularly at the State House and that adversely affect all of our lives. I will rise above this negativity to get the job done.

Lastly, we need to get our financial house in order. We are once again facing deficits. Our unfunded pension liability is $4.6 Billion to $13.9 Billion depending study you use. And according to Pew Center on the States, the national unfunded pension liabilities is off by $4 Trillion. Budgets are being blown by my opponents. We are facing a credit downgrade. None of this will help us attract good paying jobs to our state and it means that we may be facing higher and higher taxes. This trend needs to change.
