Sister: Beach Crash Not Caused by Texting
There were no injuries after a car went airborne on Ocean Boulevard Tuesday morning and struck five other vehicles.
Hampton Police Chief Jamie Sullivan said no one was injured in a Tuesday morning six-vehicle crash that started when a car went "airborne" after striking a curb near the Ashworth By The Sea hotel.
Sullivan confirmed Tuesday afternoon several reports issued around 8 a.m. Tuesday, and said "everyone is fine." Sullivan said the vehicle struck five other vehicles after hitting the curb.
The sister of the teenage driver who caused the accident told Hampton-North Hampton Patch she wanted to "be clear this was not a case of texting while driving."

She said her brother takes his parents' "no texting while driving" rule "very seriously."
"As a 22 year old I know this is a common accusation many others make when a young person gets in an accident, but it truly was not the case in this morning's incident," said the sister, whose name is being withheld by Patch.
