Stanley Cup to Be Featured in Christmas Parade

There may be bells jingling in this year's Hampton Christmas Parade, but they won't be the only silver object commanding attention from onlookers.

That's because the Stanley Cup, a storied trophy passed along each National Hockey League season to the championship team, will be featured in the downtown parade, which is on Dec. 3.

Michelle Bishop Cooper, a member of the Committee for the Hampton Christmas Parade, said it was announced Tuesday night at the group's meeting that owner Desi Lanio has been able to secure an appearance by the Cup thanks to his friendship with Russ Conway, a former Massachusetts sports reporter with ties to the Boston Bruins, who in June.

No Bruins players or legends have yet officially confirmed they will be on hand for the parade, although the committee is currently working on it.
