SWAT Standoff in Hampton: ICYMI

A suspect in a Hampton SWAT standoff was found dead: in case you missed it.

HAMPTON, NH — A suspect who holed himself up in a Hampton motel Thursday night and engaged in an hours-long standoff with police later shot and killed himself, according to reports.

Multiple police agencies descended on the Mari-Anne Motel in Hampton Thursday night for a standoff with the suspect, identified as Brayton Burnham.

Police said they were called to the motel at about 8:30 p.m. for a report of a burglary. Officers said they encountered several subjects, including Burnham, who was in a bathroom. As Burnham saw an officer, he pulled a gun and shot at him, police said. The officer was not hit and able to flee the room while Burnham barricaded himself inside.

After an hours-long standoff, a robot was dispatched and an attached camera showed Burnham had shot himself, police said.
