Town Of North Hampton: Regional Impact Project - Rye, NH

The Rockingham Planning Commission (RPC) was notified of a Declaration of Regional Impact by the Rye Planning Board via certified mail. This is a residential development for 30 2-bedroom triplex condominiums located at 0 Lafayette Road in Rye, NH just north of the Rye/North Hampton boundary. The Rye Planning Board has notified the municipalities of North Hampton, Greenland and Portsmouth as potentially being impacted by the development.

The RPC Regional Impact Subcommittee will meet on Monday, July 26, 2021 at 3PM at the Rye Junior High School to discuss the proposed site plan. Attached to this email you will find the meeting agenda and the regional impact declaration notice. The RPC staff draft comments on the proposed development will follow in a separate by the end of the week.

As RSA 36:54-58 explains, a determination of regional impact affords the regional planning commission the status of abutter providing an opportunity to review the project and in doing so, provide additional input and technical support in the review of large, complex development proposals. Remember that neither the RPC, nor the abutting impacted communities have any authority under the regional impact statute to interfere with the decision making power held by the land use board of the host community.
