Tractor Trailer Crash Shuts Down I-95

Lanes were closed for more than three hours tonight while crews cleared the scene, investigated the crash.

I-95 was closed for more than three hours after a tractor trailer crash on Oct. 25, 2015.

According to New Hampshire State Police, at around 5:30 p.m., troopers from Troop A were sent to the southbound side of the highway for a report of a crash in North Hampton.

Upon arrival, troopers encountered a tractor trailer down the embankment and into the tree line on the right side of the roadway, in the vicinity of Mile Marker 8.8, according to a report.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 Volvo tractor trailer being operated by an Everett, WA, man suffered a possible mechanical malfunction while traveling southbound in lane #1. As a result, ILIJA slowed and pulled into the breakdown lane where he alleges that the vehicle jerked to the right, sending the truck down the embankment and into the trees. There were no injuries reported at the scene.

Two lanes were shut down until around 9 p.m. while the crash was investigated and the vehicle was removed from the tree line utilizing heavy duty wreckers from Al’s Automotive of Exeter. Traffic continued to flow through the area of the crash during this removal operation.

The New Hampshire State Police were assisted at the scene by members of NH State Police, Troop-G, and the North Hampton Fire Department. The cause of this crash remains under investigation.
