Turtles Returning to Area Ponds
Use caution, as some of the area's favorite visitors have returned early this year.
The turtles that annually make the land and pond around the Deacon Tuck Gristmill have arrived early this year, and have begun laying eggs three weeks ahead of schedule on the 488a High St. property.
Deacon Tuck Gristmill Committee member Candy Stellmach urged residents driving down High Street to use caution and pass slowly past the area's meadows, ponds and streams for the next few weeks because the turtles cross the road to find places to lay their eggs, which are expected to hatch before September.
