Two Tie for Fourth in Statehouse Race

Democrat Andrews-Ahearn also ousted by Republican challenger; Republicans also keep control of state Senate, Executive Council seats.

How often does something like this happen – two candidates running for four seats in the Rockingham District 21 race, to represent Hampton and Hampton Falls, have tied.

Incumbent Democrat Renny Cushing and Republican Ken Sheffert each received 3,019 votes, tying for fourth place.

Incumbent state Reps. Frederick Rice, and Tracy Emerick, both Republicans, came in first and second. David Wood, another Republican, came in third.

In the Rockingham District 37 race, Republican Andrew Christie easily beat incumbent Democratic state Rep. Elaine Andrews-Ahearn by more than 1,400 votes.

In the North Hampton races, incumbent Republican state Rep. Michele Peckham bested Judy Day, 1,288 to 892, to keep the Rockingham District 22 seat.

In the Rockingham District 31 seat, Republican Carol Bush has a slight lead against Tamara Le, 2,072 votes to 2,031 votes.

In the District 24 state Senate race, incumbent Republican Nancy Stiles easily beat Democratic challenger Chris Muns, 10,326 to 6,738.

In the Executive Council District 3 race, incumbent Republican Christopher Sununu easily won re-election against Robin McLane by nearly 21,000 votes.
