Women and Investing

A FREE two-part investor education workshop by the NH Bureau of Securities Regulation.

The East Kingston Public Library will present a FREE two-part investor education workshop on Wednesdays, May 6th & 13th, 7:00 PM at the Library , 47 Maplevale Road, East Kingston, NH. These classes will be given by the New Hampshire Bureau of Securities Regulation (www.sos.nh.gov) and are specifically designed for women, but men are also welcome. You will learn how to protect yourself from unscrupulous people targeting you and how to organize and understand your finances. Extensive free investor educational materials will be provided with sufficient time for Q & A.

Session 1 (May 6th): “Fraud Detection/Prevention” provides you with information on frauds and outlines tools to detect and prevent fraud. The class includes overviews of: current scams/frauds seen in NH and how they target women; techniques to protect yourself; simple ways to identify and report fraud schemes; and where to find resources to help you!

Session 2 (May 13th): “Understanding Investments” provides an unbiased overview to help you understand the complex world of investments. The class includes: identifying who is selling to you and techniques to evaluate salespeople; common products being sold and their pros and cons (including securities, insurance and bank products); special considerations for investing when you are in or near retirement; and, simple estate planning concepts (trusts and advance directives).
