About 50 people turned out Sunday for a rally held by the Save Woodmont Apple Trees group, <a href="http://www.unionleader.com/article/20130805/NEWS06/130809668" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">according to the Union Leader</a>. The group was protesting the cutting of hundreds of apple trees to make way for the controversial <a href="https://londonderry.patch.com/groups/politics-and-elections/p/woodmont-review-clock-extended_5bded58d" rel="nofollow">Woodmont Commons development</a>, which calls for the construction of more than 1,400 homes, three hotels and 800,000 square feet of commercial space on more than 600 acres in Londonderry. The project is next scheduled to be discussed at the Planning Board's Aug. 14 meeting.
