MANCHESTER, NH — Police in Manchester are asking for the public’s help with an investigation involving a pregnant woman who was shot on Friday.

Around 9 p.m., police, firefighters, and AMR medical technicians were sent to the area of Bell and Hall streets for a report of a 35-year-old woman who had been shot. The woman was pregnant, Heather Hamel, a public information officer for the department, said.

“The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment,” she said. “The victim is reported to be in stable condition. The unborn child appears to be unharmed.”

Police later learned the woman was hit by the bullet when it entered her home from the area of 292 Belmont St. Officers went to one of the apartments in the building and attempted to make contact with the people inside. Hamel said the people were “uncooperative” and barricaded themselves inside.

“After the occupants refused to exit, Manchester Police SWAT responded and brought the situation to a resolution without further conflict,” she said. “SWAT officers located five individuals in the apartment, all of whom were arrested and charged with resisting arrest.”
