Weather forecast:
1. Saint-Gobain Settlement Could Make Water Expansion Easier for Londonderry (londonderrytimes.net) — Londonderry is moving ahead with major water line expansions helped by a new PFAS contamination settlement with Saint-Gobain, which will fund 40% of a key main extension. Town officials say this, combined with prior project funds, should speed bringing public water to more neighborhoods, while Saint-Gobain continues maintaining wells and treatment systems in the consent decree area through at least 2027.
2. Community Power Aggregation Program Officially Gets Underway (londonderrytimes.net) — Londonderry’s new Community Power Aggregation program is now live, automatically enrolling most households to leverage bulk buying for potentially lower electric rates while still allowing residents to opt out anytime. Utilities Committee members explained why the program must be opt-out, shared how simple it is to leave, and reported a strong 92.71% participation rate so far.
3. High School Roundup: Kearney, Secor lead Londonderry softball team (unionleader.com) — Londonderry High’s softball team stayed perfect as standout pitcher Elisabeth Kearney tossed a one-hitter and Paige Secor drove in all three runs in a 3-1 win over Portsmouth. The roundup also notes Londonderry girls tennis falling 6-3 to Dover, alongside other nearby schools’ baseball, softball, lacrosse, and tennis results.
4. The Declaration's final signer (altoonamirror.com) — Londonderry residents may be surprised to learn that Dr. Matthew Thornton, who once practiced medicine in town, was the final signer of the Declaration of Independence. This historical profile traces his journey from Ireland to New England, his political rise in New Hampshire, and his late but determined addition to America’s founding document.
