Weather forecast:
1. Concerns Over Citizen Petition Warrant Articles Raised Again (londonderrytimes.net) — Londonderry voters overwhelmingly passed two citizen petition warrant articles in March, but Town Councilors have not fully followed through on sending the directed letters to state officials. With only one councilor signing, residents are pressing for answers and possible reconsideration on issues involving state funding impacts on property taxes and support for a potential Red Flag Law.
2. Mural of pioneering New Hampshire pilot Bernice Blake gets a long-overdue update (unionleader.com) — Visitors to the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire in Londonderry will soon see a refreshed mural honoring pioneering pilot Bernice Blake, thanks to returning artist Rick Freed. Using newly discovered family photos, Freed is reworking Blake’s likeness to better match the Manchester native’s real appearance, after years of relatives and museum-goers saying the original portrait didn’t quite look like her.
3. The week ahead: Final countdown for House, Senate to act on each other's bills (unionleader.com) — A busy week at the State House includes a proposal from Londonderry’s Senate President Sharon Carson to study allowing guns on public college campuses, along with major decisions on children’s mental health coverage and highway tolls. Lawmakers will also weigh changes to SNAP administration, foster kids’ benefits, and possible constitutional amendments on income taxes and school property tax caps.
4. Prosecutors: Kingston man told witnesses not to share information with police in sexual assault case (wmur.com) — Londonderry police arrested a Kingston man last week following a month-long investigation into historic child sexual assault allegations, and he has now been arraigned on multiple felony charges. Prosecutors argued against his release, citing prior convictions and claims he urged witnesses not to cooperate with police, while a judge left bail under advisement.
