Today's riddle: Why are frogs poor conversationists? 🤔 (Answer below!)
Weather forecast:
1. AG: Londonderry officers justified in deadly shooting after Planet Fitness incident (unionleader.com) — Londonderry residents are learning that state investigators have ruled local police were justified in the February 2025 fatal shooting of Calvin Ly-Bishop on Winding Pond Road after an armed confrontation linked to a Planet Fitness incident. The report details the traffic stop, officers’ accounts, lack of body-camera footage at the time, and confirms no criminal charges will be filed against the officers.
2. Bywater Call reveals 'No One Else' (bluesrockreview.com) — Bywater Call is scheduled to play Londonderry’s free Concerts on the Common series on July 1, giving locals a chance to hear their new single “No One Else” live. The Canadian roots-soul band is touring internationally behind its upcoming album Broken Souvenirs, with dates across Europe, North America, and the UK.
3. Derry murder is the latest fallout from NH's ties to global gift card scam (nhpr.org) — Londonderry appears in this unfolding investigation as one of several New Hampshire warehouse sites tied to a massive stolen gift card and Apple products scheme, including a botched 2025 robbery there. Authorities say tax-free New Hampshire has become a hub for these operations, which also connect to a deadly stabbing in nearby Derry and numerous raids, arrests, and ongoing court cases.
4. NH Senate Passes Bill To Study Campus Carry of Firearms (indepthnh.org) — Londonderry residents may want to note that Senate President Sharon Carson, R-Londonderry, helped advance a bill to study allowing firearms on public college campuses, including faculty carry and non-lethal weapons for students. The measure passed the New Hampshire Senate along party lines, faces strong opposition from students and law enforcement, and now heads to the House for further debate.
5. Anti-income tax amendment comes up short (unionleader.com) — Londonderry’s own House Speaker Sherman Packard played a key role Thursday by backing an amendment to expand access to experimental medical treatments under New Hampshire’s Right to Try law. Lawmakers also narrowly failed to advance a constitutional ban on an income tax and debated a slate of other high-profile bills on voting rules, education, prosthetic coverage, landfills, and drug regulation.
