A 2,180-Mile Hike for a Cause

Londonderry man is planning the hike of a lifetime to raise awareness for those needing help with family issues, parenting skills, juvenile issues and mental health.

I am taking off five months from work and attempting to thru-hike the full Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. I will be starting my trip on March 14th, and hiking 2,181 miles north to Mt. Katahdin, Maine.

As part of this hike, I’m doing some fundraising for the Upper Room in Derry NH. The Upper Room is a non-profit Family Resource Center, committed to the development of strong individuals and families in our community. They are a team of dedicated professionals who are actively working to improve the family life of the citizens of New Hampshire’s communities. The Upper Room helps individuals and families in need of education, support, and resources to "make it" in today's world!

In the past year, The Upper Room has served my community – over 15,000 people – on topics such as parenting, GED preparation, Juvenile Diversion, anger management, drug and alcohol awareness, and more. In order to keep these programs thriving, I hope that you will consider a donation to The Upper Room, a Family Resource Center.

Donors are encouraged to form groups, or hold fund raisers of their own.

To donate, copy and paste the following URL into the browser (http://www.urteachers.org/involved-financial.html) and please put "in honor of Tom Bever" on the PayPal page, which will allow me to keep track of all donations.

I will not have internet access often, but I will do my best to update family, friends, and other readers on a weekly basis. All people who read the blog are encouraged to come out and hike with me to experience part of the trail.

All donations are tax deductible and every donor will get a receipt of their donation.
