AFP: ObamaCare Implementation is Proving Bad for Business

MANCHESTER – Americans for Prosperity – New Hampshire (AFP-NH) today is reasserting that the implementation of Obamacare will be bad for businesses in New Hampshire and across the country and is calling for repeal of the law before more damage is done. The assertion comes on the heels of a business forum hosted yesterday in Manchester on healthcare at which attendees who came seeking answers left disappointed according to an article in today’s Union Leader.
“Implementing Obamacare is translating into bad public policy. Business owners came to this meeting seeking clarity and clarification on how to navigate the rules and regulations of Obamacare and instead left with greater uncertainty and insecurity. These nasty side effects of this seriously flawed law will hurt our economy as it is likely to stymie hiring and business expansion,” said Greg Moore, AFP-NH State Director. “That’s why it was so disappointing that our two U.S. Representatives, Carol Shea-Porter and Anne Kuster, had the chance to vote to repeal Obamacare last week and chose not to do so. They really should spend some time listening to the frustration of small business owners of New Hampshire.”
According to the Union Leader story, the online exchanges intended to help consumers and businesses shop for health insurance are behind schedule. The deadline date for implementation is January 1, 2014. So far, in New Hampshire only Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is planning to offer products on the exchange.

“So far instead of increasing competition, Obamacare has only been successful in increasing costs,” added Moore. “The IRS was already given a billion dollars and hired 700 agents just to implement Obamacare. It is now estimated the IRS will need another $13 billion and 15,000 new agents to do the job. Given the most recent problems revealed by the IRS, we have to wonder if they are the correct agency to competently carry out and manage this costly and complex new law. We should repeal Obamacare before it is too late.”
