AFP Outraged Over NH House Approval of Budget with 16% Spending Increase

Americans for Prosperity – New Hampshire (AFP-NH) is expressing their outrage today over the House budget vote.

MANCHESTER – Americans for Prosperity – New Hampshire (AFP-NH) is expressing their outrage today over the House budget vote.  The House approved a budget that grows state spending by 16%.

“With so many of our residents out of work and even more working hard just to get by, passage of a budget that increases state spending by 16% is reckless and irresponsible,” said Greg Moore, AFP-NH State Director.  “Working families and businesses are cutting back and making tough choices.  They should be able to expect the same of their state government.  Unfortunately, today the House asserted their belief that New Hampshire families and businesses need to carry more of the state’s burden with the passage of this budget that grows state spending by 16%.”

The budget (HB 1) passed the House today by a vote of 194 to 172.

“Quite simply, we are outraged over this vote and believe that New Hampshire taxpayers deserve better,” added Moore.  “The House’s desire to grow government at all costs should not come before the best interest of our state’s citizens and our economy.  Sadly, today the House made the wrong choice but the process is not over.  We look forward to working with members of the Senate to craft a reasonable budget that puts the best interests of our state ahead of the best interest of state government.”
