Chamber Accepting Citizen & Business of the Year Nominations

The Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce would like to announce the start of awards season! The chamber is now accepting nominations for the Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year Awards. Each of these awards is presented annually at the chamber’s Annual Dinner and Business Meeting. The 2013 Awards Ceremony will be held at Atkinson Resort & Country Club on October 10.

Typically, the winners are individuals and businesses who have made significant contributions in their community and have proven longevity and commitment to the betterment of society. More specifically:

• The Citizen of the Year Award is presented to an individual who, who has made contributions in some of the following areas: outstanding leadership, civic pride, exemplary vision, community contributions, religious activities, charitable/non-profit programs, educational programs and/or has enhanced the environment of this community.
• The Business of the Year Award is given in recognition of a business or organization in the Greater Derry Londonderry community that has demonstrated some of the following: outstanding leadership and contributions to growth of the business community, community pride, employee relations, support of education within the community, ability to adjust and overcome adversity, and community service minded.

The winner of these prestigious awards will also be part of the 2013 Derry Holiday Parade, presented in a car along the parade route marked by signs bearing their award title.
