An officer located a subject matching the description of the suspect walking in the area of Massabesic Street and the officer requested to speak to the man, according to police.
Jeffrey Hastings of Frame of Mind Photography was at the scene and posted pictures on Facebook:
“The subject turned and fled the area on foot,” according to Officer Mark Ampuja of the Manchester Police Department. “The officer pursued the subject on foot. In the area of Old Falls Road and Massabesic Street, the subject turned and punched the officer.”
The suspect continued to run from the area while another officer arrived at the scene and was also involved in a foot pursuit, according to Ampuja. That second officer attempted to take the suspect in custody while other officers arrived.
“While trying to handcuff the subject, he pulled away and started kicking and punching officers,” Ampuja alleged. “Officer had to use a Taser to gain control of the subject to place him in custody. The subject was eventually handcuffed but he continued to be combative.”
The suspect – Maldonado – allegedly continued to be uncooperative during process and was transported to the Valley Street Jail.
One of the injured officers was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the report.
