Council to Narrow Down Town Manager Candidates

Town Council Chairman John Farrell instructed his fellow councilors to look through the applications before the end of the month.

The Town Council is set to begin the process of whittling down the candidates for the open town manager's position.

Council Chairman John Farrell instructed councilors at Monday's meeting to go through the packet containing the candidates for town manager and whittle them down to a "top seven" by April 29, a week before the council's next meeting on May 6.

Fifty-four people applied for the open town manager's position by the April 1 deadline. The position was re-advertised last month after the favored candidate for the job accepted another position.

As with the previous search process, Human Resource Manager Donna Pratt has said she will be available to assist the council and Acting Town Manager William Hart with the interview and hiring process.

Hart, who is also the town's police chief, has been serving as interim town manager since former Town Manager David Caron resigned over the summer.

The hope is still to have a new town manager hired and in place by July 1, Pratt said.
